Pam and i had the pleasure of attending our 2nd Alt Summit Blogging Conference last week… the quick 1 day conference is a mini taste of what the annual Salt Lake City Summit has to offer for bloggers and businesses.
This time we brought our hubbys along and tagged on a couple of days for a mini-vacay. It was a great 5 days..the kids were ok without us. STOP…let’s re-phrase that..the kids were GREAT without us…in fact, when i texted Melina to let her know that we were just about home, i got an “oh ok” back. Heh??? Their babysitter is WAY cooler and WAY more fun than we are. Ok, I’ll admit, i’ve never spent evenings tie-dying clothes, making hair bows or creating music videos. How ever can i top this? Let’s just say it: I won’t.
Alt is a hotbed for bloggers of all kinds…beginners and established alike. I really have never been in another situation where it’s socially acceptable to be engaged in all forms of social media at all times. Lots (tons) of pictures were taken, business cards exchanged, and new connections made. As always, the Alt team and sponsors treated guests in many ways. It’s all in the details. Goody bags filled with stationary, party supplies, notepads, cleansing wipes were gifted to all. Minted journals, Pinterest mason jar glasses, MailChimp handknitted hats and more had me cramming my suitcase shut and then paying for my overweight baggage! Hey, there could be worse!!
Here are some snippets from our San Fran jaunt:
Set at the Fairmont perched atop Nob Hill, the views were, in a word, spectacular!

The closing party, held at Pinterest’s headquarters was a serious highlight. Great vibe, fun mini appys and desserts, quirky “Pinterland” characters, and one last chance to meet fellow “pin pals”

Little did i know that the red and white polka dots would be most appropriate for the “Pinterland” party… I was indeed asked if i was Alice for the evening!

As always, Alt is into the details. Loved these pins we could add to our lanyards so others would know what we blog about.

Joss and Main provided a relaxing lounge, complete with hand massages, comfy seating and a candy bar.

Dessert party hosted by Acura, was the perfect tidbit on the eve of the summit.

A couple of amazing moments:
~ the roundtable discussions. Being able to glean valuable info from blogging giants and inspirationalists like Victoria Smith of SF Girl by Bay and Jordan Ferney of Oh Happy Day was pretty awesome.

~checking out Pinterest’s headquarters and meeting Ben Silbermann, the founder of Pinterest…

~connecting with some dynamite bloggers who’s sites i’m already hooked on.
~i’d be remiss to not mention that being able to explore SF once the summit was over was fabulous. As always, Pam did some research on where to eat (having spent the day before with many local SF bloggers, they were able to confirm our choices..bonus!). We also tagged on a day spent in Napa. Glorious…the warm weather, a visit to Thomas Keller’s Bouchon Bistro and Bakery, drinks on the terrace at Auberge du Soleil, wine tastings and a sublime dinner at Bottega. Seriously lucky that Pam and i are both married to guys who can get as excited about good food as we do! Besides my serious tummy ache from eating far beyond my capability, it was a trip full of fan-freaking-tabulous experiences!
