One of our readers, Sheri, asked for inspiration for gussying up her daughter’s bedroom. 13 years old and a lover of horses and all things western were the particulars. Here’s a look at what we found:
When it comes to the foundation of the room, i’d opt to stay more neutral and put the colour and western flair into the “finishes” or items that accessorize the room and bring it to life! If your daughter is anything like mine, she wants to re-do her room often! I’d rather tackle that with items that are fairly easy to change out. Choosing sheets and a comforter that are in the neutrals, such as cream or light grey, will ground the room and keep it from becoming to “themey”.
Pillows, throws, lighting and art are all pieces that beg you to show your personal style. We love the navajo influence in some of the items we’ve picked! We also thought the idea of using a horse blanket and attaching some vintage blanket pins brings authenticity to the room. If you’re ready to hop on the DIY train, the mason jar lighting is very cool and would look rather fabulous over a reading or desk area. Click here for instructions.
Art is my favorite way to finish a room…and i couldn’t just pick one for you. Here’s some of my picks:
I went to Esty.com to source many of the above items…it’s the perfect site to find handmade, vintage and custom items that are priced well and can be shipped to the US or Canada. I’ve ordered fabrics in past from different Etsy sellers and have nothing but love for them!
Hope this inspires you, Sheri!
