Laurel and I and our hubbies, of course, are going to our cousin’s wedding next weekend. It will be a full circle moment for me as my cousin was one of the flower girls at my wedding 16 years ago! Crazy!!
I was debating about wearing one of the dresses I already have, but I decided to get a new one special for the occasion. Bluefly is one of my fave places to look for designer wear at discount prices. It’s totally worth signing up to receive the emails. You often get “invited” to special sales and are offered special discounts and free shipping. Before putting through an online order through any retailer, I always Google to check for additional promo or discount codes. You’d be amazed how many are out there!
From the wedding invitation, I got the feel that the wedding is going to have a summer garden feel with lanterns and vintage light strings.
I decided to go for a romantic somewhat vintage look. I honed in on a Sue Wong Dress. Here’s the look I’m going for with the new dress and items from my closet….
So, the dress is new. I have shoes similar to these already. I have had them for several years. A simple, snake skin heeled sandal reads as a neutral and is very classic. The purse is similar to one that I purchased at a Michael Kors outlet. I usually carry a large tote style handbag for everyday use, but it’s a nicer, more formal look to have a smaller clutch. If you purchase one in a neutral color or a metallic, you will be able to use it for most formal occasions.
The necklace from Alex Woo was a gift from Jason many years ago. He had the necklace made up with “p&j”. I get asked all the time…does that stand for peanut butter and jelly?? No…that’s pb&j…but I think it’s kind of cute! I always feel kind of sentimental when I wear the necklace so that makes it even more apropo to wear to the wedding!
I’m really loving wrap bracelets right now. The ones pictured are by Chan Luu. They are greatly discounted on Bluefly, but the ones that I own are handmade by a vendor on Etsy and are a fraction of the cost. I love wearing more than one at a time for a layered look.
I received earrings very similar to these from a friend for my birthday. They are going to look fantastic with this dress! I love that you can mix silver and gold!
I’m looking forward to celebrating the start of a new life together for the couple and what better way than with a new dress! Cheers!
