If you’ve seen me in the past month, chances are you’ve seen me in this outfit…or one similar. I like to think i switch it up a bit, but dang, i am loving the idea of a sporty slash polished look. It checks off the boxes: Put together. Comfortable. Polished. All at one time.
Let’s talk about the sneaks for a moment. Begrudgingly, i will concede that my feet rebel when i try to wear heels longer than about an hour. Most lower heeled shoes will take me the distance, but often with some minor battle scars by the end of the day. But these Stan Smiths…well..as my daughter Nina says, it’s like walking on clouds! Traditionally sneakers are paired with more active clothing. But times are changing and this cross-over is one that i am indulging in. More tailored pieces, like a wool coat or blazer, keep their style but take on a bit of a sporty look when worn with more low profile sneakers. There are so many to choose from… adidas and nike are pumping them out as quickly as they are selling…and i gravitated to the simple Stan Smiths, with the gold touch of course! My dad just shook his head when he saw me wearing these. They were his shoe of choice back in his tennis days. Over 30 years ago, Stan Smiths were hot to trot. I think dad is secretly wishing he woulda kept his around!
