Ingredients
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 Tablespoons real maple syrup
  • 2 eggs
  • 2¾ cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1½ cups chocolate chips
  • ¾ cup dulce de leche
  • vanilla bean ice cream
Instructions
  1. Preheat over to 350 degrees.
  2. Soften the butter in the microwave a bit (it should be slightly colder than room temperature).
  3. Mix the butter and sugar (white and brown) together with an electric mixer until creamed.
  4. Add the vanilla and maple syrup and blend until smooth.
  5. Add the eggs and beat slowly until well mixed in.
  6. Add the flour, baking soda, and salt. You may need to add the flour in batches. Mix until a smooth dough forms. The dough should be dry to the touch. If it's sticky, add a little more flour.
  7. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  8. Press half the dough into a 9" cake pan lined with parchment paper.
  9. Pour the dulche de leche over it and spread it over the batter.
  10. Cover with the rest of the cookie dough.
  11. Bake for 15-25 minutes. If you like it gooey-er, bake it for 15 minutes. If you want it a little more cooked. Cover with foil about 15 minutes and bake an additional 10 minutes (that's what I did).
  12. Allow to rest about one hour so that it will hold it's shape when cut.
  13. Cut and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
