Cap Toe Flats

Posted by Pam

One of the trends I really love for the fall is cap toe shoes! I’ve seen this trend on many different styles of shoes from smoking flats to booties to high tops to ballet flats. My fave look for this trend is definitely on ballet flats. Here are a few of my fave looks with high and low options, so you are sure to find a pair to fit your budget!

Smoking Loafers – Part 2

Posted by Pam

As I mentioned in my post on Tuesday (click here to read), I was on the hunt for a pair of smoking loafers.  Berkeley, my oldest daughter, and I were on a back-to-school shopping trip to Seattle, so what better place to look for a pair of shoes!  We started by looking at Nordstrom Rack…one of my fave discount stores.  The smoking loafer is a fairly new trend, so there were only a couple of pairs there and none that really did it for me!  So…off to Nordstrom…the meca of shoes.  Seriously, Nordstrom has the BEST shoe department not to mention incredible service!!  I have to say when you walk into a Nordstrom shoe department, you can almost see the skies parting and think you might hear an angel playing a harp…ok, maybe it’s just the dude playing the grand piano (a staple in Nordstrom stores!).

I tried on many of the pairs that I had mentioned in my post, and if you can believe it, went with a different pair!!!  The funny thing is, I went with a pair by Steven by Steve Madden that combined two of the trends I was seeing a lot of…leopard print AND studs!!  Perfect…two trends in one pair of shoes!

I paid $138.95 at Nordstrom (click here) and they are also available at Amazon.com for about the same price (click here).

So, this is a bit more than I would usually pay for a pair of trendy shoes, but I have a feeling that these are going to get a ton of wear this fall as leopard print can act as a neutral!!  Don’t they look snazzy with these bright orangey-red skinnies?

Smoking Loafers

Smoking loafers are this fall’s twist on the ballet flat. They really serve the same purpose. They look adorable with skinny, rolled up pants and also with leggings. Now don’t ditch all of your ballet flats…there’s still a place for them and they are perfectly on trend.  But if you want to kick up your wardrobe with a fun pair of shoes for fall, smoking loafers are where it’s at!  Also known as smoking slippers (they do resemble something your grandpa may have worn with his robe!), these shoes are adorable in all kinds of animals prints and metallics.  As such, they work as neutrals and go with almost anything!

And you don’t have to break the bank to find a pair.  All of these are $150 and under!

Berkeley and I are in Seattle as we speak for back to school shopping and, yes…I’m hoping to try on all of these shoes and I’m planning on coming back with a pair…or maybe two! I’ll report back!

Easy Summer Outfit!

Posted by Pam

Yesterday morning I woke up to partly sunny skies, but cool temperatures….what to wear?  I find myself often asking this question.  Our west coast summers are rather temperate and then you have those in between season times from spring to summer and then summer to fall.  Lately, I’ve been wearing this….

This outfit is super comfortable, yet I think it’s still chic.  The leggings are somewhat genius.  There’s NO way I’m trying my jeans on after the carb loading that took place in Italy!!!  These are actually not traditional leggings…they are more like workout pants so they offer more support and actually have a slimming effect on my thighs!  They are also fantastic for summer BBQ’s as they offer protection from those pesky mosquitoes!  I’m wearing the TNAction Sprint Legging (see below).

The shoes, bracelets and necklace offer pops of color.  I can’t count how many compliments I have received on this necklace.  Unfortunately it’s no longer available online from Anthropologie (you may still be able to find it in stores), but I’ve offered some cute options below.  Critical to this outfit is the long shirt that conveniently covers my bottom.

Here are some pieces that you could use to create a similar look….

Fave Spring Sandals

Posted by Laurel

I have a bit of shoe issue…well, maybe that’s downplaying it a bit, but bottom line, my tootsies are the most spoiled part of me!! They don’t gain weight, lose weight, sag or get split ends so i figure i’m justified.
And the time is approaching when the boots get moved to the back of the closet and the ballet flats and sandals make their way out of dormancy! Time to show off those pedicures (or get one if you haven’t since summer!!).
Here are our picks and whether you’re ready to splurge or you’re looking to save, the options are aplenty:
