Pam as Mrs. Peacock at the Alt Summit

Posted by Pam

For one of the dinners at the Alt Summit that we are attending this week (a conference for lifestyle bloggers), we had to dress us as our favorite character from the game Clue.  Ok, I don’t do games…it’s just not my thing.  Have to admit I’ve never played Clue, but I love turquoise, so Mrs. Peacock I would be!

I had a lot of fun hunting around for deals to put an outfit together.  Here’s what I found….

Mrs. Peacock

  1. J. Crew Coat , regular price $325, I paid $160
  2. Diane Von Furstenburg Top , regular price $245, I paid $166
  3. J. Crew Skirt , regular price $148, I paid $42
  4. Boutique 9 Pumps (from Saks Off Fifth), regular price $150, I paid $59
  5. Essie Polish in “Where’s My Chauffeur?” , regular price $9, promo’d
  6. Michael Kors Bag (from Michael Kors outlet) , regular price $298, I paid $162

The total regular price for the outfit was $1, 175.  I paid $589, with a savings of $586!  That’s 50% off!  I know it’s still an investment and I probably won’t ever wear all the pieces together again, but I got a killer winter coat and a fantastic bag that will add a punch of color to outfits most any season.  I love all of the other pieces too!  The skirt will work great with a black silk blouse and black pumps that I already have!!  So, really, I got a few outfits out of this one!

Bottom line…I don’t play games, but I sure get a charge out of finding an outfit for a great deal!

iPhone Cases for Women, A Must Have Accessory!

Posted by Pam

It used to be that your handbag or your shoes were the must have accessory.  They are still important, but how many of you feel naked without your phone?  More than once I have turned around and returned home upon realizing I have left my phone at home.  We just can’t seem to go without being connected!  What if I miss that text or email I’ve been waiting for?  And, heaven forbid, I can’t check Facebook!

Since most of us carry our phones around with us 24-7, I say we treat them like an accessory!  They should be just as chic as our last handbag or our new shoes for spring.  I am partial to the  iPhone, ok, that’s putting it mildly…I LOVE my iPhone so here are my plum picks for iPhone cases!

Ok, I’ll admit that I have a thing for iPhone cases!  I just ordered the Tory Burch raspberry, navy and white one!  I love the graphic pattern and it will look great for spring!

Look, your phone is something you carry around with your everyday, probably all day, so don’t be afraid to splurge a bit on the case. It’s a bonafide accessory! It’s a way to own a piece from one of maybe your favorite designers that you’ve been drooling over and can’t afford!  Be bold…be graphic (in a good way of course!).

Beach Bags!

Posted by Pam

In the past, I used to forget to pack a beach bag and always had to buy the overpriced touristy one at the resort gift shop that I would NEVER use again! Last Valentine’s, Jason bought me a Trina Turk beach bag and I love it and never forget to pack it!  Retire the reuseable Lululemon bags  ladies (sorry Laurel!).  Yes they are great bags and it’s smart to recycle, but amp it up a notch and get yourself a great beach bag that you’ll use for years to come!

Exhibit A - the point of this pic is not Berkeley, even though I think she's pretty cute! Look at the top right corner...my beach bag is the pink one, Jana's (our sister in law's) is the cute tie dye one, and Laurel's is the Lululemon shopping bag!

Here are some of my fave beach bags out this season!

So, Laurel…I’m putting out a challenge. No Lululemon shopping bag at Spring Break. You need a real, bonafide beach bag!!! And I expect a report back on what you picked!!!! Wow…I’m sounding like a bossy, older sister! Yah..I’m the older one!
